Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse - Cardiovascular Hub (Wythenshawe based)

We are looking for a full time Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse for a 12 month fixed term contract to co-ordinate and deliver clinical research studies within the Cardiovascular portfolio at MAnchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Clinical Research at MFT

MFT is a leading provider of tertiary and specialist healthcare services treating over one million patients each year.

Our Research and Innovation Division is dedicated to driving continuous improvement in the care our patients receive through clinical research. We support some 300 Prinicipal Investigators, who undertake research across a diverse range of clinical areas, spread across seven hospitals and community services, to deliver improved diagnostics, treatments and devices for patients in Manchester and beyond.

MFT has a large research portfolio, with excellent facilities and internationally renowned researchers.  We have a global reputation for conducting and delivering pioneering research.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is capable of contributing to the development and support of research in the Cardiovascular Hub (including Diabetes/Stroke/Vascular/Transplant etc).

You will take a proactive approach in managing clinical research studies including developing study procedures and practice, gaining consent, approvals and recruiting patients, alongside clinical duties including providing the highest quality patient care and collecting and processing samples.

You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will provide dedicated support to ensure that studies are delivered to time and target. You will be the main point of contact  for study prinicipal investigators, sponsors and patients and so effective communication and team working skills are essential.  You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken at MFT safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.  You will also have opportunities to showcase your work and will at all times be an ambassador of research at MFT at internal and external events.

Prior clinical research nursing experience would be advantageous, although not essential.  You will be have been trained to degree level and have experience of working in a clinical setting and have First Level Registration RN (Adult).  Comprehensive training and Induction programme will be provided for the successful candidate.  We will also ensure that you have an individual personal development plan with support for further training.  Opportunities for developing new research and clinical skills are available and actively encouraged.
