Band 5 Staff Nurse - Interventional Radiology

Due to expansion, we have exciting opportunities for motivated and committed staff nurses to join our dedicated nursing team within the Interventional Radiology Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Wythenshawe Hospital is part of a leading integrated health, teaching, research and innovation centre in Greater Manchester. We offer a unique range of services to the North West of England, treating and managing the simplest to the most complex conditions and diseases. For our nurses, this means the chance to gain diverse experience in a pioneering team, delivering the highest standard of evidence based care.

Committed to our principle of putting patients first, you will be an RGN with a nursing diploma (or equivalent) and have experience working within a multidisciplinary team in an acute care or theatre environment. Motivated, proactive and a strong team player, you will have good communication and interpersonal skills and be keen to undertake all the challenges that this innovative department offers in caring for patients, both day case and in-patient, with diverse needs who are undergoing interventional radiological procedures.  In order for us to deliver this high class service, successful candidates will be required to participate in an on-call rota which runs outside of our core hours of 8am-8pm.  Our vision for the future lies in further developing the Interventional Radiology Day Services we are able to offer as well as the introduction of a Pre-Admission Clinic which will be led by our skilled and professional nursing team.

We show care for our staff through excellent development and progression opportunities which include the gaining the knowledge and skills required to care for patients during all areas of their journey including admission and pre-procedure preparation, safe administration and monitoring under sedation, undertaking the role of scrub nurse and during their recovery following radiological interventions such as CT guided lung biopsy, vascular angiography, liver biopsy and biliary stenting, to name a few.  This begins with a comprehensive induction programme as well as access to the Wythenshawe Academy and LEAD Training Programme, a unique and innovative concept to develop skill sets which brings together all of the education and training activities of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.  For newly qualified nurses, we offer a comprehensive and respected Preceptorship Programme and as a nurse with acute experience, you will be supported to gain the skills required by spending time outside of Interventional Radiology during the course of your induction.
