An opportunity has arisen for GMC registered applicants to join the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Medical team at The Royal Manchester Childrens’ Hospital.

The Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Unit currently has 28 beds within a purpose built dedicated unit with state of the art facilities. The department is a regional centre for all paediatric haematological and solid tumour cancers and is also a paediatric Immunology and haematology treatment centre.  .

The NW Regional Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplant Unit currently has 11 beds within a purpose built dedicated unit with state of the art facilities with increasing allogeneic transplant activity. The clinical area includes the Stem Cell and Gene Therapy unit, commissioned in July 2017 as part of a service expansion programme.

The department is a regional transplant centre for all transplants including malignant and non-haematological disease but is also a national and international referral centre for metabolic illness. The Unit has an increasing interest in the gene therapies of paediatric illness (we treat ALL patients with CAR-T cells, and will treat metabolic children with stem cell gene therapy in 2019).

The post holder will receive training in all aspects of haematology (malignant and non-malignant diseases) and will suit a paediatrician, paediatric haematologist/oncologist or adult-trained haematologist who wishes to specialise in this area of medicine. There will be the expectation that the post-holder will contribute to the academic life of our department since we publish many clinical and pre-clinical papers.

Your application will not be considered if you are not GMC registered or if you have not fully completed an Application Form.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service
