Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

It’s all here for you. World-class specialist Pharmacy and Medicine Optimisation services in an integrated health, teaching, research and innovation campus. Training and opportunities only England’s largest NHS Trust can offer.

Everything you need is here at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). The posts is on Intermediate neurorehabilitation at Trafford Hospital.

You do not need ward or hospital experience to apply for this role as a full comprehensive training package is in place to support your transition.

Reporting to both the Ward-based Service Manager and Ward Manager, you’ll carry out medication rounds and support senior colleagues by administering everything from tablets to 2nd checking intravenous medication and controlled drugs and counselling patients  and making sure handovers are comprehensively managed.

It’s a responsible role, and we’ll make sure you have the time to immerse yourself in the latest practices and legislation – something that will give you the gravitas to train colleagues. You’ll also help the Ward Manager optimise the Trust’s stocks, and manage your own stocks to minimise waste and promote security at all times.

Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and with a BTEC Level 3 in Pharmacy Science (or equivalent), you’ll have the technical training to quickly settle into the busy team. Equally, proven patient-facing experience means you’ll already understand the empathy and tact you need to bring to the role.

We operate a 24hr service, and so flexibility to work your hours across the week to include evenings and weekends is required.
