The post of Specialty Surgeon in Organ Retrieval is an excellent  and exciting opportunity for middle-grade transplant surgeons to develop their career within one of the North West’s largest teaching hospitals.   

The successful applicants will join a large multi-disciplinary team of transplant surgeons, nephrologists, and supporting professionals, which delivers one of the largest kidney and pancreatic transplant and organ retrieval services in the UK.  The post holders will lead on the delivery of the Manchester sector of the National Organ Retrieval Service, which is one of the busiest abdominal organ retrieval teams in the country. Organ retrieval is undergoing major change with the introduction of exciting new perfusion and reconditioning  technologies. Once appointed you will have ample opportunities to be involved with or lead on introduction of  newer techniques. While the primary responsibility of the job would be organ retrieval service deliver, you will be given the opportunity to undertake clinics and theatre lists and to develop individual specific areas of interest in transplantation and vascular access. Each appointed individual will be linked to a consultant group for mentorship and career development. There will also be ample opportunities for clinical research and continuing professional development.
