Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology, Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

Applications are invited for the newly created joint post of Specialist Pharmacist for Renal Services at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), and a Learning Development Pharmacist with the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE), at Manchester University.

MFT – Specialist Renal Pharmacist
The newly formed MFT is one of the biggest, most ambitious NHS Trusts in the country and we are proud to be a specialist regional centre for nephrology and the largest centre for kidney transplantation in the UK. As part of the renal pharmacy team you would provide specialist clinical pharmacy services to both inpatient wards and transplant outpatient clinics. The pharmacy department is a progressive and supportive department, and working in the pharmacy renal team will provide the ideal opportunity to practice at the forefront of clinical pharmacy services and to further your specialist clinical pharmacy skills.

CPPE – Learning Development Pharmacist
The CPPE is based at Manchester University with a global reputation for education. Close working with the CPPE team will provide a unique opportunity to experience many aspects of Education and Training at a national and local level. This post involves planning, designing and delivering learning and assessments to support the continuing professional development of postgraduate pharmacy professionals. You will have the ability to develop facilitation and presentation skills in addition to applying clinical knowledge to the development of learning and teaching materials.

This opportunity provides a 50/50 split between posts that both require you to have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Paramount to both posts is that you are a team player with a flair for communication; good problem solving skills; an approachable and supportive nature; the ability to successfully achieve agreed objectives, particularly as you will be working both independently and as part of a wider team. You will be a registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council; have successfully completed the first year of a post graduate diploma or equivalent in hospital pharmacy; and have previous experience in a hospital setting.

In return this appointment will offer you a unique opportunity to experience many aspects of Education & Training, and to work in a dedicated renal team with excellent training opportunities to progress your career.
