Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider

F6 is a 32 bedded cardiothoracic surgery ward, delivering high standards of nursing care to patients undergoing both routine and complex cardiac, aortic and thoracic surgery.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, aspirational and caring individual, to come and join us and work within our friendly, well established and supportive nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience within this speciality and further develop your surgical clinical skills. Night duty only can be accommodated if preferred.

As a surgical speciality, we are keen to hear from both experienced and newly qualified nurses, as well as those nurses who have not previously worked in a surgical environment, but are looking for a change to an interesting speciality. We are also interested in hearing from nurses considering a rotational post.

You will be supported by your mentor/preceptor, but will also have the support of the trust practice based educator team through the Trust Preceptorship Programme and on-going CPD. The trust has strong links with local universities and the MFT Academy based at our Education and Resource Centre supports numerous in house training opportunities, together with the Critical Care Skills Institute, the Practice Based Educators and the Trust Specialist Nurses.

We can offer training, flexibility, friendliness and a caring environment in which to work and provide a large number of staff benefits, which you will find listed in the additional information link attached to the vacancy

If you meet the above criteria, we would like to hear from you.
